How We Help
Problems We Solve
Real situations we handle every week for manufacturers, engineers, and facilities teams across the Chicago area.
Use Cases
Who we work with — and why they call us
Echo works with manufacturers at every stage. Some call us because their usual shop is backed up. Some call because they can’t find the part anywhere. Others have been coming to us for years because they know we’ll get it right. Here’s what that looks like in practice.
01
Old Machine Part,
No Blueprint
A critical machine breaks down. The OEM stopped making the part years ago and there’s no documentation anywhere. Your line is down and every hour costs money.
We reverse-engineer from the worn or broken component — measuring critical dimensions, identifying material, and recreating the blueprint from scratch. Then we machine exact replacements. Fast.
“Our line was down for three days. Echo had a reverse-engineered replacement part in our hands in under a week.”
02
Prototype to Production
You have a design but need it validated in real material before committing to a full run. Tooling costs and lead times make mistakes expensive at production scale.
We machine your first article, work directly with your engineers on any adjustments, then scale to production quantity — all on the same equipment, with the same team. No handoffs, no surprises.
“From a 1-piece first article to a 500-piece production run. Same quality every time.”
03
Duplicating Existing Parts
You need more of a part you already have. But the original supplier is gone, the lead time is 16 weeks, or the price has become unworkable. Bring us the part.
We measure the existing component, program our machines to match it exactly, and produce duplicates with full dimensional control. No blueprint required. If you have the part, we can match it.
“We brought them a part from a 1978 machine. They matched it in three days.”
04
R&D & Product Testing
You’re developing a new product and need test quantities machined to tight tolerances before committing to production tooling. Timelines are tight. Design may change.
Echo supports R&D programs from single test pieces through pre-production validation runs, in a range of materials. We work quickly, communicate clearly, and can accommodate design revisions between iterations.
05
Overflow & Fill-In Capacity
Your shop is booked solid and a job comes in that needs to ship next week. Or a key supplier lets you down. You need parts, fast, and you can’t miss the delivery.
Echo acts as your invisible back shop — taking overflow work and delivering parts under your timeline. Many of our longest-running relationships started with a single overflow order during a busy period.
06
Machining Consulting
Not sure the most cost-effective way to machine your part? Should it be turned or milled? What material makes sense? Are the tolerances tighter than they need to be?
We offer manufacturing and tooling consulting — reviewing your design for manufacturability and recommending material selections, tolerances, and machining strategies. A conversation before you commit can save significant cost per part.
